As I recounted in our January eNewsletter, ADAO has been working since 2004 towards eliminating mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. Today, I have great confidence that we will achieve this vision because of our strong community of patients and their families and individuals committed to advocating for public health.
Any accomplishments we achieve, we achieve together. Thank you for being a part of our 2012 successes. For 2013, ADAO has three New Year’s resolutions, all related to the power of collaboration that, to me, is what ADAO is all about.
1st Resolution: Strengthen our social media networks and outreach. In 2012, ADAO went to France and Brazil and Skyped with Australia and Pakistan. In these cases and many others, we were struck by the dangers people face from asbestos exposure, not just here at home, but all over the world. In this decade, how is it possible that workers fixing a water pipe in Texas are exposed to asbestos, and in a factory in Pakistan, visible asbestos fibers float through the air? The stronger our outreach, the stronger our ability to protect people. ACTION: Join ADAO’s social networks today to help prevent further asbestos exposure.
3rd Resolution: Expand our “Share Your Story” program. I think I saved the best for last. Our strength comes from making everyone’s voices heard. Each of your stories is important to ADAO. I want to make sure we hear from all of you. ACTION: Submit your “Share Your Story” or re-share your previously published “Share Your Story.”
