On behalf of ADAO, I am honored to virtually share a poster during the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work ”Prevention in the Connected Age || Global solutions to achieve safe and healthy work for all” on September 20 – 23, 2021.

ADAO’s poster, “USA Asbestos Retrospective 1970-2020: Consumption, Mortality, Policy, and Exposure Prevention in the 21st Century,” will discuss the history of asbestos imports and use in the United States, and progress and challenges in our journey toward a national ban.

In 1955, the International Labour Organization and the International Social Security Association established the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work as a global forum to advance worker health protection. Since then, the Congress has opened its doors to the world every three years, each time hosted by a different country.  It has become one of the world’s largest events for the international occupational safety and health community–attracting thousands of delegates from across the world.

The World Congress is a crucial global forum for the exchange of information and opinion by experts in safety and health, representatives of companies and employees, decision-makers from government and public authorities, social partners, and anyone active in the area of occupational safety and health.

Since 2011, ADAO has been participating at the World Congress to advance asbestos prevention to eliminate all asbestos-caused diseases that claim the lives of more than 250,000 people each year.
