Posted on April 1, 2013 The Asbestos Disease AwarenessOrganization (ADAO) is thrilled to launch Global AsbestosAwareness Week (GAAW), April 1-7, 2013! This important week raisesawareness about the dangers of asbestos and the steps that we all should taketo prevent asbestos-related disease. GAAW is truly a collaborative effortinvolving organizations and leading experts from all around the globe.

 

Despite being confirmed as a human carcinogen, asbestos isstill mined, imported, and used in both developing and developed countriesaround the world.  The devastating health issues and diseases caused fromexposure to asbestos represent a significant cost to society and anunbelievably painful experience for the individuals and familiesaffected.  The only way to end the deadly legacy of asbestos is througheducation and awareness to prevent exposure, policy to ban asbestos, and a curefor asbestos-related diseases.

 

Join us today and by taking three simple steps:

1) Join our candle light vigil today and on Sunday, April7, participate in our virtual candle light vigils to honor thewarriors fighting asbestos disease and remember those we have lost. Clickhere to light an online candle, which burns brightly for 48 hours.
