Year-End Giving 2025: Multiply Your Impact and Support ADAO’s Mission for a Future Without Asbestos

As 2025 draws to a close, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) looks to enter its 21st year of evidence-based advocacy to prevent asbestos exposure, eliminate asbestos-related diseases, and strengthen community support. Your year-end donation fuels our mission to protect families across the United States and around the world through education, policy leadership, and community. We could not have done all of this without you, and we are not done.

Who We Are

Founded in 2004 after the death of Alan Reinstein due to mesothelioma, ADAO is the largest independent U.S. nonprofit dedicated solely to asbestos prevention. Led by co-founders Linda Reinstein and Doug Larkin, ADAO unites patients, survivors, families, physicians, scientists, unions, and public health leaders to push for stronger protections and a full U.S. asbestos ban.

We are constantly in contact with our Science and Prevention Advisory Boards and Leadership Board, which consists of scientists, researchers, doctors, lawyers, victims, and advocacy-led individuals who bring their expertise and lived experience to guide ADAO in a strategic direction that is grounded in both scientific rigor and profound human understanding.

Why Your Gift Matters

Asbestos remains legal and lethal in the United States, and it continues to claim nearly 40,000 lives each year. Despite decades of scientific evidence, exposure continues in workplaces, homes, schools, and communities. There is no safe level of exposure, and it can prove deadly even 50 years later. The stakes are still high, but you can change that.

Your year-end gift is more than just a donation. It is a direct and powerful stand against this silent killer. It fuels our three core pillars of life-saving work, and turns your compassion into meaningful action.

Every person renovating, living in, or working in aging buildings is at risk of exposure to asbestos. Your support ensures they don’t face this risk alone.

  1. Your Gift Fuels Education That Saves Lives

Your support means we can meet people at their moment of need with truth and clarity. We provide trusted, science-based fact sheets and toolkits that empower families and workers to identify and avoid asbestos danger in their homes and communities. Through Global Asbestos Awareness Week, we will launch an international campaign that reaches millions with the undeniable message that “prevention is the only cure.” And with your help, we’re breaking down misinformation barriers through AI-powered prevention tools, like our multilingual chatbot and the Asbestos Action Navigator tool, which delivers accurate, life-saving information to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

  1. Your Gift Powers Advocacy That Demands Change

We have never been closer to a full ban on asbestos. The Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now (ARBAN) Act has historic bipartisan support, but it needs a final push to become law. Your donation amplifies our voice through Congressional briefings, testimonies, and beyond, ensuring lawmakers hear the stories of survivors alongside the unequivocal science. It powers our direct work with federal agencies like the EPA, OSHA, CDC, and NIOSH to strengthen protections and enforcement. And when disaster strikes, it enables our rapid response, providing immediate guidance to communities facing the tragedy of asbestos contamination.

  1. Your Gift Nurtures a Community of Hope, Healing, and Learning

Behind every statistic is a person. A story. A family learning to live with loss. Your donation sustains the compassionate programs that bring us together. It allows us to host the Mesothelioma Warrior Candle Lighting, a global moment where we honor those we’ve lost and surround survivors with light and love. It grows our Share Your Story project, transforming personal grief into powerful advocacy that forces decision-makers to see the human cost of their inaction. It supports our Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conferences each year, ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to expand their knowledge of the latest medical research and clinical procedures, and to personally connect with families and victims.

The Legacy You Help Build

Because of supporters like you, ADAO has educated millions, mobilized unprecedented bipartisan support for ARBAN, and become a global public health resource over the last 20 years. We are a sought-after source for media, including The New York Times and ProPublica.

As we head into 2026, your year-end gift will directly ignite our next pivotal chapter. We’ll be pushing forward to finally pass the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act, expand our AI-powered tools to reach underserved communities, and launch new prevention resources for schools, unions, and homeowners. We’ll be growing our digital remembrance programs to offer community and connection year-round.

We have the strategy, the partnerships, and the evidence. What we need is you.

Join us in the life-saving effort to create a future where no individual has to suffer from a preventable disease. Please make a tax-deductible year-end gift today. Together, we can build a safer, healthier future free from asbestos.
