UPDATE: I’ve sent a YouTube video and prepared remarks, “Deadly Asbestos Ravages Humanity” for the “Dust: The Great Asbestos Trial” panel discussion at the Galway Film Fleadh since I am missing the event.  ADAO is wishing Niccolo Bruna and Lisa McLaughlin great success today! ~Linda

On July 12, the 2012 Galway Film Fleadh will screen “Dust: The Great Asbestos Trial,” Niccolo Bruna and Andrea Prandstraller’s documentary about Italy’s first criminal trial against two of Eternit’s major stockholders, Stephan Schmidheiny and Baron Luis de Cartier.  More than 3,000 factory workers, family members, and citizens of the small town of Casale Monferrato lost their lives to asbestos poisoning.

Since the ADAO USC premiere, “Dust,” an incredibly informative and stunning film, has been raising awareness and encouraging collaboration around the world.

Following the Galway Film Fleadh screening of Dust, ADAO President and Co-Founder Linda Reinstein will participate in a panel discussion via Skype to talk about the global struggle to end the deadly legacy of asbestos, as well as new developments in Canada, Brazil, and the United States.

Being a part of this panel with the screening taking place in Ireland is extremely exciting for ADAO, especially in light of all we learned at the recent Rio +Social events we participated in. Rio +Social stressed the growing importance for greater social mobility and interaction to build communities, and our participation in this event – an ocean and a continent away – is a great example of how digital technology eliminates boundaries and fosters collective action.

“Dust: The Great Asbestos Trial” has been named a critic’s pick.
