As we fight for an asbestos ban in the United States, our list of stakeholders and allies who support the Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act continues to grow, thanks to our successful dual-track strategy that seeks to eliminate asbestos through legislation and regulation alike. It is now a bipartisan effort that has industry support, putting us closer than ever to an asbestos-free future. We need to continuously show Congress there is a community of constituents who want this legislation to move forward.
For almost two decades, we have worked to educate people about the dangers of asbestos, advocate for the end of its use, and bring together a community of patients and their families who have suffered and survived asbestos-related diseases. We are singularly dedicated to this cause and will not rest until we know that no family will suffer the loss of a loved one from preventable asbestos-related diseases. Asbestos is still legal and lethal in the US today, claiming nearly 40,000 lives each year. Each year, we have led Congressional staff briefings, testified before Congress, hosted an annual conference featuring global experts, and ran advocacy campaigns like Miles for Meso and Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW). All of this was made possible by supporters like you. And as we move forward, we will never forget the loved ones we have lost to asbestos exposure. They are the reason we continue to fight for a safer, healthier world.
