🌍 DAY ONE – 2025 Global Asbestos Awareness Week (GAAW) || Day ONE – April 1st: Asbestos: One Word. One Week. One World.
Day One of GAAW launches with a clear message: Asbestos is a known carcinogen, and there is no safe level of exposure. While promising research continues, prevention remains the only cure—and it starts with education, advocacy, and community.
We also debut our 2025 Press Release, “ADAO Launches 21st Annual Global Asbestos Awareness Week,” and the updated 30-second PSA video, “Asbestos: The Killer You Can’t See.”
Today—and every day—we express our deepest gratitude to our 20-year Partner for Prevention, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). Firefighters face elevated risks from asbestos exposure on the job, and IAFF has been a steadfast leader in advancing health protections and legislative reform.
As Dr. Danny Whu, MD, MPH, of IAFF powerfully states: “Occupational cancer is the number one killer of fire fighters, and the IAFF is steadfastly committed to removing every known human carcinogen from the fireground. The IAFF applauds the U.S. Senate and all organizations working to eliminate this killer from continuing to be imported, sold, and used in commerce.”
#2025GAAW Day One Call to Action: Share an asbestos fact on social media
Day One sets the tone for a powerful week of global unity and action. As we work together to prevent exposure, protect workers and families, and push for a world free from asbestos, we honor those we’ve lost — and fight for those still at risk.
One Word. One Week. One World. Together, we rise.
