DAY SIX – April 6, 2026 | Empower Prevention: Technology for Global Access
On Day Six of Global Asbestos Awareness Week, we focus on the transformative power of digital education in the global effort to end asbestos exposure. Today’s theme, “Empower Prevention: Technology for Global Access,” reflects a core conviction: trusted, accessible information saves lives.
We begin with Sara’s story from France, featured in “Someone Pulled the Emergency Brake!” Her experience is a sobering reminder that awareness must come before exposure, especially in countries where asbestos remains legal and dangerously underestimated.
Today, we also debut our 2026 Press Release and the 30-second PSA, “L’amiante: le tueur que vous ne voyez pas,” translated into French. These resources help reach new audiences and reinforce a crucial truth: the asbestos crisis is far from over.
Around the world, thousands continue to die each year from legacy exposure and inadequate risk management. While the threat has evolved, it has not disappeared. Many people believe asbestos is a problem of the past, yet it remains legal and lethal in many parts of the world.
To help close this knowledge gap, ADAO continues to expand digital tools that make reliable information accessible to everyone.
- The Source: 20 Years of Asbestos Knowledge, ADAO’s AI-powered chatbot, places two decades of advocacy and scientific expertise into the hands of anyone seeking answers, in nearly 100 languages.
- Paired with the kNØw Asbestos website and the Asbestos Action Navigator, these tools create a growing hub of fact sheets, infographics, videos, and conference resources that bring expert knowledge directly into homes, schools, and workplaces.
We are also grateful to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for its leadership in advancing occupational risk management worldwide. As Ruth Wilkinson, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at IOSH, notes: “IOSH is at the forefront, offering excellent educational materials aimed at embedding risk management principles across national administrations and throughout global education and training systems.”

Together, through innovation and awareness, we are building the foundation for prevention and justice.
